The European Utilities Telecom Council (EUTC) will once again participate in Enlit Europe, taking place at VIECON in Vienna (Austria) from November 10 to 12, 2026.
This year, EUTC will contribute to the event programme with a session on utility telecommunications and network resilience, and will launch its new BPL Short Book. EUTC members and other stakeholders are welcome to stop by to meet the team, learn more about the association and hear about our upcoming activities.
Telecoms to Power Utilities Resilience
On day 2, November 11, EUTC will contribute to the session “Telecoms to Power Utilities Resilience”, at the Digitalisation: Tech, Innovation & Connectivity Hub (Hall B) from 09:30 to 11:30.
The session will begin with an introduction by Alberto Sendin (EUTC Board Member and Telecoms Director at Iberdrola), addressing the role of telecommunications in grid monitoring, the integration of distributed energy resources and outage response, including the contribution of private 5G, IoT and edge computing.
Right after, Adrian Grilli (EUTC Technology Advisor) will moderate the EUTC Panel Disucssion Utility Perspectives, featuring Alberto Sendin, Jesse Cornelissen (Manager Products and Architecture Telecom at Alliander), Sergio Ramos Pinto (EUTC Vice Chairman and Deputy Director at E-REDES), and Vincent Audebert (EUTC Board Member and IoT & Telecom Expert at EDF). The discussion will cover resilience from two angles: keeping telecommunications networks operational and using reliable communications to support electricity operations.
The Future of Broadband Power Line (BPL): EUTC Short Book
EUTC will launch The Future of Broadband Power Line (BPL) over Low Voltage Grids: Frequently Asked Questions, developed by the BPL Subgroup within the EUTC Telecommunications Technical Knowledge Task Force, launched in 2025.
The publication provides a practical and technical overview of BPL communications over existing low-voltage power infrastructure, covering network architectures, PHY and MAC technologies, performance and operational aspects. It draws on expert knowledge and deployment experience to support a better understanding of BPL and its role in smart grid communications.
